I use it for protein shakes so I can't judge it's use for Cocktails. The strainer is part of the top, so it's a two peice. It's made in India of high gauge stainless steel. It's thinker than any of my other stainless steel glasses. I tend to trust stainless steel crockery made in India; since they only use stainless steel for cultural reasons, it tends to be better made than other imports. I've used it a few times and there have been no leaks. It makes a tight enough seal where I don't need to hold the top when I shake, but not so tight that it's a pain to get off.
My only complaint is they did not dimple the bottom so it is not as stable as I think it should be. Maybe that's how cocktail shakers are designed though.

I bought the shaker before there were any reviews just because it was inexpensive. I am happy with it--it's sturdy and good looking. I'm glad it doesn't leak but it can be a little hard to get the cap or the top off after shaking.

after going to 1 of my friends party, i saw him mix drink with a mixer and i thought that was pretty cool so i wanted to get 1 for myself. i looked up on amazon and saw this one for pretty cheap and got good reviews. After using it i really like it. it doesn't leak at all but it might be kinda hard to take out sometime if you really put it together tightly. all in all i really good the only thing is i don't like the shape that much but that's just me.
